The BBC had this to say: BBC NEWS report on Occupy Exeter
Protestors from Occupy Exeter began their occupation of a space in Exeter City Centre today in protest against the greed of banks and the financial system at the same time that everyone else is being forced to pay for never-ending bank bailouts, through austerity and cuts.
So far the group has not formulated any specific demands; instead preferring to debate these openly and democratically in a General Assembly before announcing what the demands are. Everyone is welcome to join the discussions – just turn up at Cathedral Green and join in.
Although the site of the occupation is adjacent to the cathedral, the group’s protest is not about the Church. It is very definitely focussed on economic inequality and bringing about change for social justice, views which were also shared by the Acting Dean of the Cathedral today, when he met the arriving protestors. The cathedral has issued this statement.
